  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for high-throughput biology protocols and workflows
  • Collaborate with scientists to develop, transfer and validate manual process steps to automated liquid handling and integrated systems
  • Work with equipment and system integrators on the design, implementation and support of high-throughput automated platforms
  • Assess the quality and efficiency of operations to prioritize process improvements and optimizations
  • Help to mentor automation engineers with the implementation of a wide range of technologies, experiment design and the use of systems engineering best practices


  • B.S, M.S, or Ph.D. in science/engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in academia or in industry
  • Extensive experience in developing, optimizing and managing large-scale integrated systems
  • Experience working with vendors to make modifications to existing software and hardware to enable expanded usage and new features for multiple integrated systems
  • Highly skilled in integrating assays and automation into efficient processes and workflows
  • Deep understanding of creating process diagrams, system requirements, technical specifications and engineering drawings
  • Skilled in developing and optimizing new workflows in collaboration with scientists
  • Experience with integrating equipment data with LIMS tools
  • Familiarity with molecular biology and cell culture workflows
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with using SolidWorks or other 3D CAD tools a plus
  • Experience working with automated iPSC cell culture systems a plus
  • Experience using programming languages such as Python or C# a plus
  • Experience working with automating high-throughput screening workflows a plus
